Youth Group

This Sunday, May 19 is the feast of Pentecost.  I am planning:What:  Jamboree with the Spirit for our Youth GroupWhen:  May 19, Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00pm

Where: Maria Hall on the property of the Sisters at St. Cyril’s

Why: To celebrate the activity of the Spirit in our lives with creative and fun activities. also refreshments!

Who: Sister Deborah Marie, coming from Chicago for the event, has done many such afternoons with young people. And of course, Sister Suzanne will be there with everyone joining right in and making sure it is a time of blessing for all.

This is a golden opportunity for your child to enjoy the marvel of the Holy Spirit in his/her life today with contemporary ways of living and understanding who young people are as tweens and teens.  This experience is open to Gr. 5 through high school.  I promise an unforgettable menagerie of Spirit moments that will resound long after this day.  The elements of surprise must be the lead up!!

Please ask your child to bring a friend.  But I need to know who is coming by name and grade by Friday, May 17.  We will be gathering materials and need enough for all.  Email me at:  srsuzanne@saintcolombaschool.org          OR          srsuzanneduzen@gmail.com.

Directions:If you are coming south on Rt. 11 turn right at the Dunkin’ Donuts at the traffic light and drive along the red brick wall. Don’t go under the archway because it gets confusing. Follow the red brick wall until you come to the Y in the road and follow the turn to your left of the Y that says Maria Hall. The other part of the Y is blocked anyway. Keep going up the road. See the big Blessed Mother statue in front of the building that is Maria Hall and drive around until you get to the glass doors between the entrance and the Mary statue.  I will be waiting there.  Pickup is in the same place.

I look forward to seeing your daughter/son at this exciting gathering!

With the breath of the Spirit within each us,

Sister Suzanne

Sunday March 24 which is Palm Sunday, “Stations of the Cross for our Times” at St. Columba Church,  The young people must arrive at 1:30 for a practice. The Stations, which are approximately one hour in length will begin at 3:00 pm for the whole parish.  A pizza party will follow for the teens and their parents in the cafeteria. Three hours of community service will be granted to the teen. Since these are contemporary Stations, the teens will be wearing special silk-screen tee shirts and jeans or dark slacks.  I need a response from you if your child will be present and the size and color, only a deep purple or a lime green tee shirt which the parish is providing. This is a contemporary experience of global problems still occurring in our world with Jesus at the center and our hope.We will be challenged to respond by helping and responding to needs around us. This prayer service will be approximately one hour in length. Please come and start Holy Week supporting our young people and praying with us on the road to Calvary. An offering will be taken up for Catholic Relief Services. Sister Suzanne and adults from the Justice Circle will be lectors while the preteens and teens will remind us in graphic ways what it is to follow Jesus.
