Winterfest at St. Columba

Our next Winterfest is Saturday, November 23, 2025! Save the date!

Last year was our 20th Winterfest!  Each year Winterfest strives to create a “WONDROUS (Christmas)  EXCHANGE”  where we as a parish family unite with our community for holiday food, friendship and fun!  But, we need your help!  We will need a large variety of cookies for our “cookie variety” package.  We also need fudge, candies, chocolate covered  pretzels, tea cakes, pies, etc. plus a variety of soups, and chili; so please start looking through your cookbooks!  We are also asking for donations of gift cards and lottery tickets to be used in our raffle.  We would love to have your “helping hands” on the day of Winterfest as well!  Please call the church office to volunteer your help or if you have any questions. Thank you!

Parish Picnic

About

The annual Parish Picnic brings Parishioners together to enjoy one another’s company while strengthening the Parish community through fellowship in the relaxing atmosphere of a picnic.

Here are pictures from our 2024 Parish picnic.   This event was in the planning stage for months, and we are so grateful to our picnic planning committee led by Jim Gregory, as well as those volunteers who helped with the setup, cooking, cleanup, concert logistics, and more!  Thanks to all of our attendees, we appreciate the wonderful food that you brought to share. We were blessed with sunshine despite the rainy forecast, and an inspiring concert in the bandshell by the Scally Brothers, who reminded us: “If there is breath in your lungs, God is not done yet!”

2025 Update: The Scally brothers are coming back! Our 2025 Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 10, both the Picnic and the Scally Brothers concert will be on the Church grounds.

Christmas Tea in July

Save the date! Our next Christmas In July tea will be Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Our Christmas Tea in July is a very popular summertime fundraiser!  Tickets go on sale closer to the date, after weekend masses in the cafeteria and at the parish office. Christmas shopping starts at 12 noon in the gymnasium – we will have crafters, vendors, and “The Twelve Days of Christmas” Raffle.  The tea begins at 1:00 pm in the cafeteria.  All participants are asked to donate one non-perishable item for the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard.

Cub Scouts

About

Cub Scouting develops confident, faithful, moral, responsible, honest young people in our community. Our ministry began in the late 1980s to encourage boys and girls 6-12 to do their best in fun activities with the purpose of developing positive characteristics and values.

SCOUTING AMERICA is inviting all elementary boys and girls to join Scouting America at the St. Columba Church Pack 24. The Pack Meetings are held every Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Church Cafeteria with snacks and drinks provided. All interested parties may contact Michael Parker. We are looking forward to meeting you – bring a friend! We have a great time with outdoor activities and many more events. We are affiliated with Scouting America, and volunteers must have clearances.

We sponsor an annual popcorn and peanut sale, collect food for the food bank and clean up litter in our church as at Camp Lavigne.

Scouts

For ages 11-17, Troop 24 meetings are on Tuesday nights, 7:00 – 8:00 pm

Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience where boys and girls can have their share of adventure in the great outdoors. Develop a love of service by volunteering in your community, boost your leadership skills through fun and exciting challenges, and create memories of a lifetime with no prior Scouting experience required! The goal of Scouting America is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations. For younger members, the Scout method is part of the program to instill typical Scouting values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills, through a variety of activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking. For over 100 years, our program has helped create generations of leaders and outstanding citizens by allowing boys and girls to explore their interests, serve their communities, and discover their talents through youth-led activities like hiking, camping, and volunteering!

We are invested in community service, and every June 14 (Flag Day) we are involved in the Flag Retirement Ceremonies at the town park.

We thank our Scout parents, leaders and volunteers, especially Troop Leader Ed Dilg and Council Commissioner Rose Rhoads

Biddy Basketball

Attention Saint Columba Parishioners!

Biddy Basketball is a great opportunity to give your child Grade K-3 a chance to learn about the game of basketball, be a part of a team and have fun! It does not matter if your child has never played before or has a few years of experience, all are welcome to play! It provides a great opportunity for your child to learn, improve and play. This program balances learning the skills of the game as well as the importance of teamwork and cheering on/encouraging each other; both important for all sports!

Where: St Columba Gym (practices and games will be held here) When: January-March, dates will be published closer to registration. Why: To learn, try and have fun!

2025 Biddy Basketball is complete. Here we will provide the link here for the 2026 the registration form. Please fill it out and return (with a $30 registration fee) to either St. Columba School or the Parish Office. Any questions, please ask! kminemyer@berwicksd.org

Hope to see you and your child on the court soon!

Knights of Columbus

Knights Of Columbus

From the moment of our founding in 1882, charity, unity, and fraternity have been the foremost principles of the Knights of Columbus.

Blessed Fr. McGivney started the Knights of Columbus in 1882, to serve families who had lost fathers and were in financial need. Your Knights of Columbus Council #2290 has been serving St Columba for over 100 years! We have several active projects in our community:1) Procuring an Ultrasound machine for Your Loving Choices Pregnancy Center 2) Aid & Support After Pregnancy (A.S.A.P national program) 3) Volunteers for YLC Pregnancy Center 4) The Fatherhood Life Disciples Mission to aid boys and men without fathers 5) EOS therapy financial support 6) Coats for Kids.
Over the next several months you will be hearing more about these and other activities. Membership in the Knights of Columbus & involvement with our missions is an opportunity for men to provide positive Catholic male influences in our society and families. If you are interested in these projects or joining the Knights of Columbus, contact our Grand Knight Dr. Robert Marande (below).

Our charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national, and international projects. Our own unique charities include Coats for Kids, support of local veterans groups, Catholic Schools, and men and women in the religious life. We also partner with international charities including Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission, and Habitat for Humanity.

Through our Building the Domestic Church initiative, Knights and their families have greater opportunities to participate in a variety of activities that deepen their faith, promote the New Evangelization, and strengthen our Parishes.

“We are answering Pope Francis’ call to go to the peripheries,” Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said. “We can reach halfway around the globe to help those in need and we can reach to our neighbor next door.  We do that every day. That makes us witnesses to the faith.”
