Youth Activities Programs
Updates from Sister Suzanne Duzen, SS.C.M.

Dear Parents,
This Sunday, Aug. 16, I am kicking off a new year for our Youth Group from 5:30 to 7:00 pm before their school starts in the Peace Room at St. Columba’s. I am showing a video clip about trying new ventures and challenges titledWhy Not? by Kobi Yamada followed by magic box that has several objects. Each young person will choose one, without it being visible, to introduce themselves. The Talking Circle will follow with prompts that will inspire some suggestions for new activities this year from the middle schoolers and high schoolers climaxing with a pizza party. I am hoping that the present Youth Group will bring a friend who might be interested in our group for a “come, see and experience!” I just need an RSVP by Sat. Aug. 15 with the name and the year in school of each attendee. Entrance is at the front of the school.
I am hoping to get more young people involved. I met a few new youths at the Vacation Bible School but don’t have their parents’ emails. If any parent could send me an email of a parent who has a daughter/don who might be interested, I would appreciate this.
Your support of our Youth Group is why we have such a vibrant, wonderful group of young people.
Blessings,
Sister Suzanne

The Kids Peace Club has been blessed this year with the Youth Group joining them in being their guides and leaders. I have new opportunities for both groups as they band together in the spirit of community.
Einstein said,” If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” I, for one, believe fairytales spark imagination, help children develop a broader understanding of the world and its possibilities, which can lead to more creative and innovative thinking. Fairytales are not only for children but for all of us. Therefore I invite both groups to:
