We are a people searching for a richer, deeper relationship with Christ by living according to His Word.
St. Paul Street Evangelization
St. Paul Street Evangelization (SPSE) is a grassroots, non-profit organization, dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking the Catholic Faith to the streets. Christ’s call to evangelize was made to every Catholic Christian, and the Second Vatican Council reiterated this need, urging each of the baptized to bring the Gospel, found fully in the Catholic Church, to a culture that has largely reverted to paganism. As an on-the-street Catholic evangelization organization, St. Paul Street Evangelization provides an avenue for people to share the Person of Jesus Christ and the truth and beauty of the Catholic Faith with a hungry culture.
Transforming Women and Their Families in God’s Love
A Catholic women’s program for parishes!! ! SHE SHALL BE CALLED WOMAN resumes with the Spring Session on Thursdays 6-7:30 pm. She begins on January 8, 2025 in the cafeteria. This past Fall was a great success with over 40 lovely women in attendance.
Registration is here for those women who have not previously registered. If you registered for the first session, YOU DO NOT NEED TO re-register.
She Shall Be Called Woman is a transformative journey designed to meet the deepest longings of the feminine heart. Our program is a sanctuary for women seeking to be truly seen, known, and loved, as they grow in their relationship with the Lord.
Through vibrant conversations, authentic speakers, and enriching prayer experiences, we equip you with the tools to embark on a profound spiritual journey. Join us for food, fellowship, and faith. All women are welcome!
On Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. we have adoration, confessions (when Father Mowery is available), and the Flame of Love Rosary. All are welcome! This is similar to the traditional Rosary with some modifications which are provided in the church.
Please save the date of May 17 for the Spaghetti Dinner at St. Columba’s from noon to 5:00. Please consider encouraging your son/daughter to volunteer at the spaghetti dinner. Ed Dilg, who taught us how to cook on a Dutch oven, helped us build a birdhouse, and orchestrated the making of leather key chains last year is coordinating the dinner with his 3 sons, who also own restaurants. Need I tell the special flavor of this spaghetti dinner?
Our Sister Debbie will be in from Pittsburgh and for the past two years she provided our young people the Prayer Walk, the tour of our Basilica and this year two hours of creative innovation on the “Images of Jesus,” with art, music, and unmistakable fun!
The afternoon has this appeal:
Noon to 2:00–volunteer at the spaghetti dinner
2:00 to 4:00– Sr. Debbie with “The Images of Jesus” in the Peace Room
4:00 to 6:00–volunteer at the spaghetti dinner (this time includes clean up)
Your child can choose either time to volunteer or both times with Sr. Debbie in the middle! They will be fed! If your child wants to participate, please let me know which times or both times and if your child will attend the “Images of Jesus.” Ed needs to know who he can count on and when. Your RSVP by May 8 to me will be appreciated. I will share this with Ed and Sr. Debbie. I will be here the entire afternoon with our young people.
Every opportunity our young people gather they seem to enjoy the marvel of being together and I enjoy every moment with them. May 17 will offer even more of this kind of joy! Please suggest they bring a friend and let me know their name.
If any parents want to volunteer please let me know. I will share the good news with Ed.
Blessings,
Sister Suzanne

Einstein said,” If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” I, for one, believe fairytales spark imagination, help children develop a broader understanding of the world and its possibilities, which can lead to more creative and innovative thinking. Fairytales are not only for children but for all of us. Therefore I invite both groups to:

That Man is You! honestly addresses the pressures and temptations that men face in our modern culture, especially those relating to their roles as husbands and fathers. The program harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive. It is particularly indebted to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II.
Over the course of three years, That Man is You! successively considers the three most important relationships in a man’s life: his relationship with God, his relationship with his spouse, and his relationship with his children.
We are always looking for a few more guys to make new friends while we learn about God. We are asking for men to try just 2 weeks; any two weeks is fine. Please feel free to call Jeff Cizewski @ 570-380-9489 with questions. We look forward to seeing YOU!
America Needs Fatima is a civic campaign to capture the heart and soul of America with the Message of Our Lady of Fatima. America Needs Fatima campaign is dedicated to bringing Our Lady’s request for prayer and penance with the promise of “Finally, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” Nationally, this is done by the home visitation program, in which a statue of Our Lady visits thousands of private homes yearly and by distributing millions of rosaries, devotional items, and calendars.
Here at St. Columba, we hold periodic Rosary rallies on church grounds to pray the Rosary in conjunction with others throughout the country, dedicating our prayers for our nation.
Our goal is to prepare engaged couples spiritually for marriage in the church. We are affiliated with FOCCUS, a marriage preparation program used in our Diocese.
Program members meet directly with couples for the betterment of marriage as a sacrament. Members need a willingness to share and guide couples as part of their preparation for this sacrament.
