Feast of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
Thursday of this week, January 1, is the feast of Mary, the Mother of God. It is a holyday of obligation and the beginning of the New Year. We are reminded that we are children of God. As Mary reflected on the things that were happening in her life, so we can ponder what is happening in ours. We can say “Thank you” to the Lord for all that has been and say “Yes” to all that will be because we know that the Lord will be with us in 2026. Let the blessing contained in the Book of Numbers be ours: “The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The Lord look upon you kindly and give you His peace!”
