Harrisburg Cursillo Movement

Cursillo, which means short course, is a movement within the Catholic Church that teaches what is fundamental to being a Christian. The movement is supported through prayers and sacrifices and leaves you with a method to deepen your relationship with Christ through piety and study leading to apostolic action.

Born out of a spirit of renewal in the Church that preceded the Second Vatican Council, the Cursillo Movement originated in Spain in the early 1940's and therefore, many terms we use are of Spanish origin.

The Cursillo has received the blessings of the Popes including Pope Paul VI who gave us St. Paul as our Patron Saint. In early May 2002, our Holy Father Pope John Paul II honored the movement by acknowledging its presence in 60 countries, in 800 dioceses and being lived by over 8 million souls. The Cursillo Movement is also endorsed and encouraged by the American bishops.
